Some people would be forgiven for thinking a virtual economy is what got us into this recession in the very first place—bankers turning the mortgages of the poor into abstract financial ideas and selling them around the world. All very imaginative but look where it has got us.
But you could actually earn from virtual economy yourself in a different way. What we mean by virtual economy is the game Second Live, which is becoming increasingly popular. The game is an online society within a 3D world, where users, in the forms of animated avatars, can explore, build, socialize, and even make ‘real’ money. Most people are just there for fun. They can discover the islands, go to gigs, nighclubs or galeries. But, money does help, as in the real world.
The currenty used in Second Live—Linden Dollars, has a value in the real world and can be exchange for US dollars which can be paid into your bank account via Pay Pal.
Some people are making a nice extra income from this game and a fw actually make a full-time living from it. Land sales and land development is one of the most lucrative business in this 3D world, along with jewelery and clothing. Meanwhile, some people are even setting up businesses in this online community, such as designing avatars for the new users.
